Houston, Oct. 16, 2014 (MindShare Strategies Media Services) – Satellite Logistics Group (SLG), a leading supply-chain solution provider for the beverage industry, announced today that the company has been certified as a SmartWay® Logistics Company Partner for another year. SLG has earned this eco-friendly recognition every year since 2009.
SmartWay is a public-private initiative between the EPA, transportation and logistics providers, commercial manufacturers, retailers and other federal and state agencies. Its purpose is to improve fuel efficiency and the environmental performance of goods movement through supply chains. Today, there are more than 3,000 SmartWay partners, and the program has saved $16.8 billion in fuel costs. SmartWay carriers now account for 22 percent of all trucking miles.
The SmartWay Partner classification signifies that SLG is a committed partner working toward more cost-effective and environmentally efficient freight transportation. SLG uses SmartWay criteria for selecting carriers that are committed to increasing fuel efficiency and reducing greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution. In fact, SLG consistently achieves the highest index available for a logistics provider for using SmartWay carriers.
“At SLG, our respect for the environment factors into our business decisions and solution development,” said Kevin Brady, SLG president and CEO. “We’re proud to partner with SmartWay carriers as we help our customers to manage their supply chains as efficiently as possible and minimize their environmental footprint.”
